Week 57 of Milly's acting journey

Monday was a bank holiday so I spent the day looking over lines and catching up on any blogger that I needed to complete.

Tuesday we dived back into 'One Flew Over...' rehearsals which consisted of looking over Act 2. Since the very beginning of Act 2 is a basketball scene, the boys wanted it to look natural but be choreographed so that there wouldn't be any incidents on show days with the audience. This meant we took a long time of trying to perfect it, so me and Millie sat and watched while making notes for when Nurse Ratched enters in. Our rehearsals consisted of going over the first scene over and over, and once it reached the Chief and McMurphy's scene for Cast 2, Cast 1 went across the room and did the very first scene of Act 2 too. I got to try Nurse Ratched and act how she reacts to the patients in that scene, so I made some notes to remember for next time.

Cast 1 started rehearsals this morning by carrying on from where we left off, which was Nurse Ratched's big monologue. I hadn't learnt it just yet as it's chunky and she moves onto different subjects throughout it, so because I had my script in my hand, I felt like it was boring, but I know once I get rid of my script, I can put some movement into it and really delve deep into what she is saying. At the end of monologue, I click my fingers, and Delroy who plays one of the Aides, marches over to the Chief played by George, but gets tripped up by McMurphy played by Callum, which then leads into a fight scene. To make it safe for everyone involved, we spent a lot of time on it so that no-one would be hesitant in fear of getting accidentally hurt. Due to Wednesday's ending a little earlier, we went over that scene a few times including the fight part, and got to after McMurphy gets shock therapy.

On Thursday, to see where we got up to and how much of the blocking we had remembered, Cast 2 had a full run through of Act 1 only. I made sure to make lots of notes I might have missed beforehand to do with certain blocking of scenes, and also to just watch it and see if there's any moments that need speeding up or slowing down.
